I’m looking forward to EclipseCon 2014, a mere two weeks away.  As usual, there is some great pure Java content.  And also as usual, you don’t have to be an Eclipse IDE users or be involved in projects, there’s more than enough pure-play tech talks to be had.

Some highlights from my POV:

• Oracle is hosting a Java 8 Day.  An entire day of Java 8 content from speakers throughout the ecosystem.  Not coincidentally, this is also the date of the Java 8 release, and your first chance to see Java 8 GA end-to-end and hands on.  Oh, and if you only want to attend the day, there is a special day pass available.
• There are other theme days on IoT, VertX and Polarsys.
• Here are a few other Java talks in the broader program (not part of the Java 8 Day) that I’d recommend checking out:
